Increase in Adoption Fee for 2016

We sent this to the mailing list last month but probably should make a note of this here as well:

As a not-for-profit, we are not trying to make money, but rather support our organization to continue our mission. Due to the continuing increase in transport expenses that we pay to get the greyhounds from Florida to CT and then on to Rochester, we are raising the adoption fee to $350.00 effective January 1, 2016. For us, as for most adoption groups, the fee does not equal the money we put in to each dog and we “lose money” on adoptions, but we need to be fiscally responsible and also offer a fee that will help keep us on an even keel financially. That said, $350.00 is a pretty nice price for a vetted, purebred, beautiful creature like a retired racer that comes with paperwork, collar/leash, and support from other greyhound lovers. Some might even say an ex-racing greyhound is priceless!
