Nike

June 1995 - October 2004

Nike (Navajo White) came to us in June 2000 and a few days later had her fifth birthday. We renamed her Nike for the Greek goddess of victory. She had a fairly long racing career and was ready for retirement. Nike was somewhat aloof when we first brought her home, but soon showed her love and affection in a quiet way. She was calm yet playful, liked to tease, still loved to run and made her own "track" in the back yard. Nike loved going for rides and the bed in the back of the van became her place to watch the world go by. She became our family "celebrity" when she had her picture on the front page of the Democrat and Chronicle and a story was written about her in the Henrietta Post. There is an emptiness since she is gone that will never be filled. A good friend and companion is no longer with us. We miss her greatly!
