Greyhound Adoption of Greater Rochester, NY is dedicated to matching the right greyhound with the right family. We prefer to select a greyhound for a family based on a family profile that is sent to one of the tracks that supply greyhounds to us. The kennel workers at the track know their dogs and are able to select dogs that are child friendly (we adopt to homes with children 5 and older) and cat friendly (please read this for an explanation of cat/small animal friendly) for those families that consist of children over five and cats or other small animals. They can also pass along to us personality and energy level traits that help us to make a good match. We want both our adoptive families and our greyhounds to get off to the best possible start. Occasionally, we have dogs that are immediately available like the ones that appear on this page. Our adoption fee is $250 which includes: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, up to date shots, new martingale collar and matching lead and the "Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummie", book. Franchised - Fran is a sweet Brindle girl that sustained a racing injury on 11/7/11. She had surgery on 11/14/11 and she is recovering nicely. Currently, she likes to go out in the turn-out pen at the adoption kennel alone and play with a toy football and race around with it. Fran weighs in at 64 pounds. She has a birthdate of June 12, 2009. She is cat friendly and is a sweet girl.
Freak N Monster- Here’s another nice boy with a scary name. Don’t hold it against him! He is white with brindle, weighs 76 pounds and has a June 3, 2009 birthday. He is rated as outgoing and could probably use a fenced yard. He is cat friendly.

Greta’s sunset- This 75 pound red fawn male has a May 24, 2009 birthday. He is NOT cat friendly, but he is a sweet, outgoing boy.

Hey Snake Bite- This black male has a June 26, 2009 birthday. He weighs 75 pounds and is rated as calm and he goes up to most people readily. He is cat friendly.
Rx Freak- Don’t let the name intimidate you! He visited Petsmart in FL and did fine. This non freaky male is a 76 pound brindle with an August 29, 2009 birthday. He is rated as calm, outgoing, and cat friendly.
Barts Queenzelda- This fawn brindle female is cat friendly and weighs 67 pounds. Her birthday is November 13, 2007. She is rated as calm and friendly.
B’s Peggy K- Her call name in the kennel is “Goldie”. She weighs 61 pounds, is black, cat friendly; rated calm and friendly and her birthday is October 28, 2009.
Git N Tizzy- She is a 59 pound red fawn rated as calm, outgoing and cat friendly. Her birthday is June 22, 2009.
CBG Spot Luck- This white with red brindle female weighs 63 pounds. She is rated as cat friendly, calm and outgoing. Her birthday is August 8, 2008.
PWS Sweet Magic (Petunia)
PWS Sweet Magic- Her call name at the kennel is Petunia. She is a red fawn that weighs 63 pounds and she has a Dec. 3, 2009 birthday. She is socially challenged and prefers to hang out in her crate. She is afraid of people, but likes other greyhounds and is cat friendly. She never raced and does not know how to walk on lead.
Harper’s Ferry- Harper is a brindle, cat friendly male that weighs 77 pounds. He is rated as calm and outgoing and he has an October 7, 2008 birthday.
Tack Sharp- This light fawn female weighs 63 pounds and she is cat friendly. Her birthday is January 29, 2009.
