Greyhound Adoption of Greater Rochester, NY is dedicated to matching the right greyhound with the right family. We prefer to select a greyhound for a family based on a family profile that is sent to one of the tracks that supply greyhounds to us. The kennel workers at the track know their dogs and are able to select dogs that are child friendly (we adopt to homes with children 5 and older) and cat friendly (please read this for an explanation of cat/small animal friendly) for those families that consist of children over five and cats or other small animals. They can also pass along to us personality and energy level traits that help us to make a good match. We want both our adoptive families and our greyhounds to get off to the best possible start. Occasionally, we have dogs that are immediately available like the ones that appear on this page. Our adoption fee is $250 which includes: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, up to date shots, new martingale collar and matching lead and the "Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummie", book. Summer Sunshine is a fawn 60 pound female. She is outgoing and slightly active so she would enjoy a fenced yard. Her call name at the track was “Baby”. She is cat friendly. She was born on November 4th, 2007.

Starz Amazing is a black female with a healed broken leg. She weighs 62 pounds and is cat friendly. She was born on May 13, 2007. Her leg is all healed now and she is ready for a loving retirement home.

Suzie - Q-ADOPTED
 
This small (58 pound) brindle female had the misfortune of ending her racing career with a broken leg that required surgery. The picture is a little outdated- she no longer has any splint or bandaging on her leg, but she does not use her front leg to walk. She does use it for balance and puts it down when she stops. Miss Suzie Q is cat friendly and shy with new people. She warms up to give kisses and seeks petting from people she knows. GPA-CF has invested over $900 (the surgery involved inserting hardware) in this sweetie and they are seeking the perfect loving home for her retirement. Does that home belong to you?!
