Cindy is the local account manager for Weschler Instruments based out of Cleveland, OH. She has sold electronic instrumentation for the industrial process control industries for the past 28 years. Her interest in greyhounds started when she first met them at a meet and greet in December, 1997. Since then she and her husband, Peter have adopted 4 greyhounds -"one of the best decision I ever made-everyday they make me smile." Mary Jo Balsis, Vice President, Web Site Updates & Adoption Representative
For the past 10 years, Mary Jo has worked as a Web Designer. Mary Jo is now happily working for Nazareth College as the IT Business and Project Coordinator in the IT Department. She lives in Irondequoit with her husband, Loren, two step sons, Jeremy and Tyler and their greyhounds, Riddler, Sophie & Amber. Mary Jo and Loren adopted their first greyhound in October 2003. We are now blessed with three wonderful greyhounds. Mary Jo started volunteering by making updates to the GAGR website. Nanette McClary, Secretary & Adoption Representative
Nan lives in Hemlock, NY with her husband, daughter, 6 greyhounds and 7 cats. She co-founded GAGR with Brenda Grammatico in November of 2002. She adopted her first greyhound, Ginger, in 1997 and proceeded to flunk fostering numerous times, resulting in the current 6 greyhound total. When she isn't volunteering for GAGR., Nan is a Spanish teacher at Livonia High School. Nan is also active in doing transports and dog washes. Peter Bauer, Newsletter Editor & Adoption Representative
Peter Bauer is a Senior Editor with Element K, a publisher and producer of computer training manuals. Peter lives in Fairport Village with his wife Cindy and their Greyhounds Penny, Rose and Daisy and cats Snowball and Luther. They adopted their first greyhound in April of 1998 and began doing meet and greets that fall to let everyone know what greyt pets ex-racers make! Rosemary B. Parker, Newsletter Graphic Designer
Rosemary lives in Irondequoit, NY, with her husband John, who is an ardent,
active GAGR volunteer.  She lives in happy chaos with her "kids" - three
dogs (greyhounds Brodie and Juniper, as well as non-grey Morgan) and four
cats (Emily, Figgie, Pino, and Cleo).   Brodie joined the family in October
2005; the Parkers flunked fostering by adopting Juniper in August 2006.
Rosemary works in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures and the
International Studies Program at Rochester Institute of Technology.  She can

Sue Bobo, Training Coordinator & Adoption Representative
Sue lives in Batavia with her husband and in-laws. She is a dental
assistant for Dr. Robert S. Marchese, DDS. Sue and her family have been
active in greyhound adoption for a number of years. Everything began for
them with Patty, their first greyhound. With the help of her family, Sue
has fostered, done transports, served on the foster committee, volunteered
at Meet and Greets and done fund raising. Sue has a special fondness for
shy and spooky greyhounds. The Bobo household now includes 9 greyhounds
including GAGR hounds, Nate, Mr. Bill and Laci and a 1 1/2 year old lurcher, Jacko.
With their large household of greyhounds, Sue has a special talent of
decorating crates to look like end tables! Sue can be contacted at

Joi Oberman, Adoption Support Coordinator& Adoption Representative
Joi is a retired certified mental health counselor/teacher who now works part-time tutoring high school students. She and her greyhound Angel actively participate in greyhound Meet and Greets, nursing home visits and GAGR events." The GAGR greyhound network  
provides a wonderful support network to all adopters and their dogs."

Cindy and Sarah Casto, Sales Coordinators
The Casto family has included at least one greyhound since 2004 when they adopted their first hound, Randy, from the track in Charlestown WV.  They became totally smitten with these wonderful creatures and added a second, Kiwi, in December 2010.  Cindy and her husband, Bill are back down to one hound right now along with a small parrot, a horse, 7 fish, 3 sons and Sarah. Sue Benedict, Volunteer Coordinator
Sue lives with her husband Alan, grandson Christopher and their mixed breed dog Jazz in Farmington.  She works for ExxonMobil Chemical as their Tolling Coordinator and has been with the company for 30+ years.   The Benedict family became interested
in greyhound fostering after reading an article in Dog Fancy magazine. Fostering is a joint family effort that they all participate in and donate to.  They attend meet & greets, help get the word out about GAGR and what wonderful pets the ex-racers make.   Sue is working to expand the number of GAGR volunteers, in an effort to increase the number of meet & greets, where we can educate people  about this wonderful breed.  If you would like to volunteer your time and learn more about meet & greets or other possible venues, please contact Sue  at gagrvolunteers@gmail.com.
